LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College hosted the Illinois Handball Association Women’s Singles Tournament over the weekend (November 18-19) and a number of Foresters fared well in the event.

After receiving a first round bye, sophomore Carly Stickles (Ridgeway, ON) won twice to advance to the championship match, where she fell to Lake Forest graduate Megan Mehilos 21-3, 21-4. Junior Lisa Jeziorny (Orland Park, IL) also won a pair of matches to reach the semifinals, where she was also eliminated by Mehilos.

Senior Clare Longfellow (Wilmette, IL) and junior Becca Bride (Wilmot, NH) each won in the first round and, after quarterfinal losses, entered the A-Division bracket. Longfellow won both of her matches to claim the division crown.

Senior Kim Lawser (West Chester, PA) and sophomores Kim Braden (Beloit, WI) and Jessica Birecki (Andover, MA) fell in the opening round before competing in the novice division, where they each played three times. Lawser won each of her matches, Braden won twice, and Birecki posted one victory.
