Four Foresters Claim World Titles
Mehilos, Sove, Munson, and Vigen win at World Handball Championships

DES PLAINES, IL - Four members of the Lake Forest College varsity handball team won world titles at the Waterford Crystal World Handball Championships 2000, which ran from October 8th through the 15th in Des Plaines, IL.

Megan Mehilos, a freshman from Addison, IL, claimed the 19-and-under women's singles title and the 19-and-under women's doubles championship. She teamed with Amy Sove, a sophomore from Modesto, CA, to win the doubles bracket.

A pair of newcomers, David Munson and Shane Vigen, paired-up to win the 19-and-under men's doubles championship. 

Bill Mehilos, a junior from Addison, IL, finished second in the 19-and-under men's singles bracket.

The World Handball Championships occur once every three years and is considered the most prestigious handball tournament in the world. This year's tournament was the largest since the competition began in 1964, with approximately 1,000 players from 11 countries competing in 65 different categories.
