LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team ended the fall semester on a positive note by defeating UW-Stevens Point Tuesday (December 10), 3-1. While the game did not count in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings (the two teams are tied for fourth place at 3-3-0), the victory does give the Foresters a 7-4-2 overall record and their first win over the Pointers since February of 1999.

Stevens Point actually took the early lead with a goal by Zenon Kochan just 25 seconds into the contest. However, Forester sophomore goaltender Cody Brown (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) held the Pointers scoreless the rest of the way. He finished the game with 36 saves, raising his save percentage on the year to 94.1% and his record to 5-2-0 while dropping his goals against average to an even 2.00.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard at the first period's 6:17 mark on a power play goal by sophomore forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario/Milton Merchants), his eighth of the season. Sophomore defenseman Rob Nerland (Calgary, Alberta/Kimberly Dynamites) was credited with the lone assist, his second of the year.

At the 14:29 mark, freshman forward Cory Wilson (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) gave the Foresters the lead with his sixth goal of 2002-03. Junior forward Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta/ Calgary Canucks) and sophomore forward Troy Muspratt (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) each recorded his second assist of the year on the game-winner.

After more than 45 minutes of scoreless hockey, junior forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia/Fernee Ghostwriters) took a pass from senior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario/Aurora Tigers) and skated past the Stevens Point defensemen before depositing the puck in the empty net. It was Wong's third goal of the season and Bruni's team-leading 13th assist.

After a 23 days without a game, the Foresters will host Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) on Friday, January 3, at 7:30 p.m. Lake Forest will host St. John's University the following night. Both Concordia-Moorhead and St. John's compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and are ranked among the top 15 programs in the country.
