LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team completed a split against Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opponents this weekend with a win over UW-Stout Saturday (December 1st) night in Lake Forest.  The Foresters scored two goals in the second period and hung on to win 3-1 in front of 148 fans at Alumni Memorial Arena.

Freshman defenseman Rob Nerland (Calgary, Alberta) got Lake Forest on the board at 5:59 of the second period, scoring his first goal as a Forester. Freshman forward Ryan Panet (Markham, Ontario), who is second on the team in goals scored, added his fifth of the season when he scored on the power play just under two minutes later.

The Blue Devils scored with six-and-a-half minutes left in the third period to make things interesting.  The goal came on the power play after a bench penalty was called against the home team for too many men on the ice.

Lake Forest held off Stout in the final minutes of the game, even when the visitors pulled their goalie. Junior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) broke away with the puck and scored an empty-netter with one second on the clock.

Forester freshman goaltender Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario) stopped all but one of 23 shots the Blue Devils put on goal. He has a record of 5-3-1 and has stopped 304 shots this season while allowing just 29 goals (.913).

The Foresters improved to 3-3-0 in the NCHA and 5-4-1 overall. They host Bethel College next Friday (December 7th) night and Hamline University next Saturday (December 8th) night. Lake Forest is 2-1-1 in non-conference play this year, including a win and a loss against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents.
