Lake Forest Drops NCHA Road Games at River Falls and Stout
Foresters will play non-conference game at St. Norbert on Tuesday

MENOMONEE, Wis. - The Forester men’s hockey team dropped a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association road games over the weekend (December 1-2). Lake Forest fell 3-1 at UW-River Falls Friday evening and 5-2 at UW-Stout the following night. The Foresters’ overall record is now 2-9-1 and they are 0-5-1 in league play. River Falls, which entered the weekend ranked sixth in the nation, raised its overall record to 8-1-0 and its NCHA mark to 4-0-0. #12 Stout is now 8-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference.

After more than 27 minutes of scoreless hockey Friday night, River Falls broke through with three goals, including two power play scores, in less than six minutes during the second period.

Lake Forest senior Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, Ont./Stratford Cullitons) scored the third period’s only goal at the 12:44 mark. His third score of the season was assisted by classmate Brian Lee (Calgary, Alb./Calgary Royals) and sophomore Matt Oke (St. Lambert, Que./Nepean Raiders).

Forester sophomore goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ont./Chatham Maroons) recorded a season-high 45 saves in the contest. Fellow sophomore goalie Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) matched his career-high with 47 saves Saturday night at Stout.

The visitors actually took the early lead on a shorthanded goal by Lee at the 2:14 mark of the first period. Canal assisted on Lee’s team-high sixth goal of the season. Stout, however, tied the game at the period’s 7:35 mark and took the lead on a power play goal at 18:38.

The home team added a power play score at 11:39 in the second stanza and a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the third.

Forester sophomore Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts) tied Lee for the team lead in goals with 6:28 to play in the contest. He was assisted by sophomores Joe Papineau (Stoney Pointe, Ont./Kitchener Dutchmen) and Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School).

Lake Forest will play its final game of the calendar year at St. Norbert College Tuesday (December 5) night. The non-league contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.
