Superior scored what turned out to be the official game-winning goal four minutes and 35 seconds into Friday’s contest. The Yellowjackets added a power play score with 1:02 remaining in the second period and an empty net goal with nine seconds to play in the contest.
Forester junior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons) stopped 38 of the 40 (95%) shots on goal he faced in the game. Classmate Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) tallied 45 saves in 47 chances (95.7%) on Sunday.
After a scoreless opening period on Sunday, St. Scholastica took the lead at 6:50 in the second. The Foresters tied the game at 12:38 in the period on freshman Peter Pfeffer’s (Farmington Hills, Mich./ Walpole Stars) second goal of the season. He was assisted by junior Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alberta/ Calgary Royals).
The Saints scored the game winner – a shorthanded goal – with 62 seconds left in the contest.
Lake Forest will close out the 2007 portion of its schedule next weekend (December 7-8) with two more NCHA home games. The team will host UW-River Falls Friday night at 7:30 and UW-Stout the following afternoon at 3:00.
