Lake Forest Falls to St. Norbert in Non-Conference Game
Each of Foresters’ four goals scored by different players

It was team captain Tyler Steen's final collegiate game.
LAKE FOREST, IL – The Forester men’s hockey team dropped a 6-4 decision to St. Norbert College, the 3rd-ranked team in the nation, Tuesday (December 6) night in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. Although both teams are members of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, the game will not count in the league standings. Lake Forest is now 6-8-0 on the season while the Green Knights raised their mark to 10-2-2.

The Foresters took an early lead just 91 seconds into the contest when freshman Mike Kneeland (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) and sophomore Kevin Russette (Amerstburg, ON/Leamington Flyers) assisted on freshman Chris Wilson’s (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Cornwall Colts) seventh goal of the season. A power play goal by senior Jordan Kniaziew (Leamington, ON/Leamington Flyers) at 5:09 extended the margin to two goals. Junior Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) and senior Cory Wilson (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) each earned an assist on Kniaziew’s first goal of the season. St. Norbert responded with power play goals at 9:01 and 11:17 and added an even-strength score at 18:19 to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

The Green Knights stretched their lead to two goals with another power play (5x3) score at the 4:41 mark of the second stanza. Freshman Peter Morrison (Roseville, MN/Roseville High School) scored the period’s only other goal, his seventh of the year, at 7:41. Chris Wilson and Russette were each credited with an assist.

The visitors’ fourth power play goal of the game gave them a 5-3 lead at the 1:44 mark of the third period. The Foresters cut the margin in half again when Canal scored on the power play at 12:14. Senior Tyler Steen (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals), who will complete his Lake Forest education next week and is playing in his final collegiate game, and junior Brian Lee (Toronto, ON/Calgary Royals) assisted on Canal’s sixth goal of the year. The visitors put the game away, however, with a goal at 14:25.

Senior forward Troy Lother (Beach Park, IL/Green Bay Gamblers) will also complete his college education next week. He was unable to play in the game due to injury.

It was the final game of the calendar year for the Foresters, who will resume their 2005-06 schedule on Saturday, January 7, with a home game against Marian College.
