Foresters Swept but Scott Campbell Becomes Program's Career Saves Leader
Senior closing in on 2,000 career saves

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Associaiton road games over the weekend. The Foresters fell 6-2 at UW-River Falls Friday night and 4-3 at UW-Stout, the nation's 12th-ranked team, the following afternoon. Lake Forest is now 3-10-0 overall this season and 0-6-0 in league play. River Falls raised its overall record to 3-6-1 and NCHA mark to 2-3-0. Stout is now 9-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the conference.

River Falls scored the only goal in Friday's opening period on the power play at 2:33.

The home team doubled its lead exactly half-way through the second period but the Foresters pulled back to within one just 30 seconds later on junior Adam Love's (Durham, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) team-high fifth goal of the season. His power play goal was assisted by sophomore David Ridos (Hamilton, Ontario/Stoney Creek Warriors) and senior Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals). The Falcons converted a power play opportunity at 13:10, added another score just 29 seconds later, and led 4-1 going into the final period.

River Falls put the game out of reach with goals at 6:22 and 7:35 in the third. Forester freshman Joel Gard (Orangeville, Ontario/Streetsville Derbys) accounted for the final goal of the contest at 8:44, his second of the year.

Lake Forest senior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) finished the contest with 47 saves and passed Joel Cameron '05 as the program's all-time leader in that category. He has now stopped 1,961 shots on goal in his career, 28 more than Cameron.

Fellow senior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons) recorded a career-high 57 saves at Stout on Saturday, including 21 in the first period and 20 in the second. He ranks fifth in team history with 1,700 career saves.

Stout started the scoring with a power play goal at the 8:46 mark of the opening period. Lake Forest tied the score on sophomore Tyler Gross' first career goal with just 36 seconds remaining in the period. He was assisted by freshmen Ethan Goldberg (Green Oaks, Ill./Chicago Mission) and Kevin Conway (Medford, Mass./Canterbury School).

The home team took 4-1 lead in the second stanza on a power play goal at 3:10, an even-strength score at 7:29, and another power play goal at 10:38. The Foresters, however, responded with Kneeland's third goal of the year just 26 seconds later. He was assisted by seniors Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts) and Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School). The visitors then pulled to within one at 15:08 on junior Peter Pfeffer's (Farmington Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars) second goal of the season. Freshman Brendan Devine (Rockwood, Ontario/Kingston Voyageurs) was credited with the assist.

Neither team was able to score during the final 24:52 of the game, including the final 31 seconds with six Forester skaters and Kohuch on the bench.

Lake Forest will not play again until a home-and-home series against Concordia University Wiconsin January 3-4. The teams will play in Lake Forest that Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and at Concordia Sunday afternoon at 3:00.
