LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team entered Saturday (December 8th) night's game needing a victory to finish the first semester with a winning record. With four goals and superb goaltending, they knocked off Hamline University 4-0.

Freshman goaltender Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario) tallied 38 saves en route to the first shutout of his collegiate career. While the Foresters were struggling defensively in the first period, Cameron "saved" them by stopping all 24 shots he fielded before the first intermission. The defense settled in and allowed just 14 more shots on goal the rest of the game.

Freshman forward Ryan Panet (Markham, Ontario) opened the scoring less than a minute-and-a-half into the game with his sixth goal of the season.  On the goal, sophomores Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia) and Robert Bilcox (Calgary, Alberta) each recorded the first of their two assists on the day. Sophomore defenseman Todd Shwayder (Manhattan Beach, CA) also recorded a pair of assists in the game, his first two points of the year.

While one goal was enough for Cameron and the Foresters, they got two more in the second period from sophomore forwards Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta) and Brad Thomas (Arlington Heights, IL) and a third period score from Wong. O'Connor is second on the squad with seven goals. Wong is fourth with four and it was the first of the year for Thomas.

Junior forwards David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) and Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) each recorded an assist on O'Connor's goal. For Evans, it marked his sixth straight game with at least one assist. Bruni, O'Connor and Wong are tied for the team lead with 12 points.

Lake Forest will be in action again on January 5th and 6th when they travel to Minnesota to play at Concordia College (Friday) and St. John's University (Saturday). Both schools are in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Foresters, after splitting the weekend series against Bethel and Hamline, are 2-2-0 against MIAC schools.
