LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College hockey player Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario) was named the Forester Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance in the first game of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs. The freshman goaltender was the key as the Foresters played heavily favored University of Wisconsin-Superior to a 2-2 tie Friday (February 15), making Saturday's matchup the deciding game in the first-team-to-3-points series.

UW-Superior, 8-3-3 in the league and the number two seed in the playoffs, entered the game averaging 5.0 goals per game in NCHA play. Lake Forest, at 4-10-0, was the seventh seed. Despite facing a barrage of shots (39) throughout the first two periods, Cameron held the Yellowjackets scoreless until the third.

Superior finally broke the scoreless tie at the 7:51 mark of the third period. The Foresters later took a 2-1 lead, but Superior scored the game's final goal with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. Cameron recorded 21 saves in the third period and added a pair in the scoreless five-minute overtime, giving him 62 for the game, the highest total for an NCHA goalie this season.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
