Foresters Eliminated from Peters Cup Playoffs by Nation's Second-Ranked Team
Lake Forest plays final game as member of the NCHA

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 5-0 at UW-Superior, the nation's second ranked team, Saturday night (February 21). The game closed out the teams' Northern Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series, ending the Foresters' season with a 5-20-2 record. The Yellowjackets, who finished first in the conference standings, moved on to the semifnals with a record of 22-2-3.

Superior scored the only goal of the opening period with 1:57 remaining and led 1-0 at the first intermission. The home team then lit the lamp at 6:59 and 16:39 in the second stanza before tacking on a power play goal at 6:59 in the third period and the game's final tally with 2:30 left on the clock.

Lake Forest senior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) tallied 39 saves in the game and finished with a school record 2,234 saves in his career. He also ranks third in team history with a .913 career save percentage.

Senior Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) led the 2008-09 Foresters with 11 goals, 14 assists, and 25 points. He finished his career with 96 points on 40 goals and 56 assists.

Along with Campbell and Kneeland, Lake Forest will lose fellow seniors Chris Jackson (Acworth, Ga./Springfield Spirit), Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons), Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School), Matt Oke (St. Lambert, Quebec/Nepean Raiders), Joe Papineau (Stoney Pointe, Ontario/Kitchener Dutchmen), Matt Schoepflin (Arvada, Colo./Culver Military Academy), and Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts) to graduation in May.
