Tyler Canal Earns Second Forester Athlete of the Week Honor of the Year
Junior forward had five points last weekend

Tyler Canal is now a three-time Forester Athlete of the Week.
LAKE FOREST, IL – Lake Forest College men’s hockey player Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (February 2) for his performance in a split of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games last weekend (January 27-28).

Canal, a junior forward, recorded his second career four-point game in Friday’s 5-3 victory at UW-Stout. He assisted on a power play goal in the first period and on an even strength score in the second. He lit the lamp twice in the third, once to tie the score and again to give the Foresters a two-goal lead.

On Saturday Canal recorded an assist when Lake Forest tied the score in the third period at UW-River Falls. The home team, however, scored the game winner with 1:54 to play in the 4-3 decision.

Canal ranks second on the team with 23 points and 13 assists and is tied for second with 10 goals.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by members of the Athletic Department on Thursdays. It marks the second time this season and third in Canal’s career that he has earned the award.
