SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Forester men’s hockey team split a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association road games over the weekend (February 1-2). Lake Forest blanked the College of St. Scholastica 2-0 Friday night before falling 4-3 at UW-Superior on Saturday. The team is now 3-18-1 overall on the season and 1-10-0 in NCHA play.

The shutout at St. Scholastica was the first in the collegiate career of Forester junior Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) and his career-high 50 saves in the contest are the most during a shutout in team history. He raised his save percentage on the year to .920.

After a scoreless opening period, Lake Forest sophomore Adam Love (Durham, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at the 7:45 mark of the second. His team-high eighth goal of the year was assisted by senior Blake O’Keefe (Almonte, Ont./Gloucester Rangers) and freshman Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars). O’Keefe, assisted by Pfeffer, added an insurance goal while the Foresters were on the power play with 56 seconds left in the game.

Superior scored the only goal of Saturday’s opening period on the power play at 8:05.

Lake Forest evened the score on junior Peter Morrison’s (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School) second goal of the year just 47 seconds into the second period. He was assisted by classmates Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alb./Calgary Royals) and Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts). The Yellowjackets regained the lead just 41 seconds later but that advantage lasted only 39 seconds before Forester freshman George Wines (Detroit, Mich./Bay State Breakers) lit the lamp for the first time in his career. He was assisted by fellow freshman David Ridos (Hamilton, Ont./Stoney Creek Warriors) and sophomore Justin Taylor (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars). The visitors took their first lead of the contest at the 16:28 mark on a power play goal by O’Keefe. Love and junior Joe Papineau (Stoney Pointe, Ont./Kitchener Dutchmen) assisted on O’Keefe’s second goal of the weekend and third this season. Superior tied the game and closed out the second period scoring at 17:43.

The home team finally netted the game winner, a power play goal, with 4:17 left on the third period clock.

The Foresters will play two more NCHA road games next weekend (February 8-9). Lake Forest will face off at UW-Stout Friday night at 7:30 and at UW-River Falls Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
