Scott McClure Receives Peter Taylor Award
Senior defenseman has 18 points this season

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College senior men's hockey player Scott McClure (Calgary, Alberta) has been named the recipient of the 2001 Peter G. Taylor Memorial Hockey Award.

McClure, a defenseman and team captain, recorded 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) this season. His point total was the sixth-highest on the team and his 15 assists were third on the squad.

He is a two-year team captain and was named to the All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association team as an Honorable Mention selection in 1999-2000. For his career, he scored 40 points.

The award stands as a permanent tribute to Peter G. Taylor (1951-1992), an All-American hockey player and 1973 graduate of Lake Forest College. Family, friends, and former teammates established the Taylor Trophy as a tribute to Peter.

It is awarded annually to the player, selected by his teammates, whose outstanding talent, leadership, and love for the game best exemplifies the qualities of the player for whom it is named.

Taylor, a native of Lake Forest, began his hockey career for the Winter Club Bantam Team, which won the Illinois State Championship and competed in the national tournament in Lake Placid, NY. A four-year player at the Berkshire School in Massachusetts, Taylor broke the school record in his junior year and captained the team as a senior. Following a year at Boston University, he attended Lake Forest College, where he became the leading scorer in Forester history with 130 points and was named to the 1973 Western Division College All-America team.  He currently ranks seventh on the all-time points total list.

After earning his Bachelor's of Arts degree in Politics from LFC in 1973, Taylor turned his energies to the local community, teaching and coaching hockey for the Lake Forest Recreation Department.

Taylor was inducted into the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
