Lake Forest Falls by One at Superior in Peters Cup Semifinal
Team finishes the season with 15-13-0 overall record

SUPERIOR, WI – The Forester men’s hockey team was defeated 2-1 at UW-Superior Saturday (February 25) night in the semifinals of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association’s Peters Cup playoffs. It marked the third straight season that Lake Forest has fallen by a single goal in the semifinal round. The Foresters finished their season with a 15-13-0 overall record. Superior, the 13th-ranked team in the nation, is now 16-9-3.

After a scoreless first period, the home team finally got on the board with a 5x3 power play goal at the 5:32 mark of the second. Lake Forest tied the score less than a minute later on a shorthanded goal by freshman Peter Morrison (Roseville, MN/Roseville High School). The unassisted score was his ninth tally of the season.

The Yellowjackets’ game winning goal was also shorthanded and came at the 7:46 mark of the third period.

Freshman goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, ON/Elmira Sugar Kings) was between the pipes for the visitors and stopped 38 of 40 shots on goal, raising his save percentage on the year to .924.

Freshman Mike Kneeland (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) led the 2005-06 Foresters with 15 goals, 25 assists, and 40 points. He posted the program’s highest point total since the 1989-90 season.
