Tyler Canal Repeats as Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior contribute to four of team’s six goals in weekend sweep

Tyler Canal is the first back-to-back Forester Athlete of the Week in nearly three years.
LAKE FOREST, IL – Lake Forest College men’s hockey player Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (Febraury 9) for his contributions to the Foresters’ two victories at home over fellow Northern Collegiate Hockey Association teams the previous weekend (February 3-4).

Canal, a junior forward, helped lead Lake Forest to a 3-1 triumph over UW-Stevens Point on Friday. He assisted on the game’s first goal and scored later in the contest to give the home team a 3-0 lead.

The Foresters defeated UW-Eau Claire 3-2 Saturday night and Canal was again a major reason for the victory. His second period goal gave Lake Forest a 2-1 lead and, after the Blugolds tied the score early in the third period, he netted the game-winner with 8:38 remaining in the contest.

Canal is now tied for the team lead with 13 goals this season and is second with 14 assists and 27 points. His seven goals in 12 NCHA games rank tied-for-fourth in the league.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by members of the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Canal also received the honor last week and this is the third time this season and fourth in his career that he has earned the award.
