Wong's Overtime Goal Gives Lake Forest 4-3 Win at Augsburg
Freshman forward scores two goals on the night

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Lake Forest College freshman Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia) scored the first and last goals of the game Friday (January 5th), lifting the Forester men's hockey team to a 4-3 overtime victory over Augsburg College in a non-conference game at Augsburg Ice Arena.

Wong's goal, on assists from Dan Holmes (Whitby, Ontario) and Frankie DeMasi (Toronto, Ontario) at the 2:13 mark of overtime, gave Lake Forest (7-4-2) the win.

Augsburg (5-7-0) dropped their second overtime game at home this season.

Lake Forest broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period when Andrew Jay (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) put a shot past Auggie goaltender Ryan McIntosh. But Augsburg tied the game with 2:46 remaining in regulation time when Andy Ness scored.

After Wong scored the game-opening goal just 1:04 into play, Augsburg took a 2-1 lead with two goals in a 42-second span of the final minute of the first period. Jaro Cesky and Joe Pontrelli provided the goals for the Auggies. Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) scored for Lake Forest just 41 seconds into the second period to tie the game at 2-2.

Lake Forest out-shot Augsburg by a 44-38 margin. Mason Black (Smith Falls, Ontario) made 35 saves to score the win for Lake Forest, while McIntosh had 40 saves in a losing effort.

The two teams will complete their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference interlocking schedule on Saturday (January 6th) when Augsburg hosts St. Norbert College at 7:00 and Lake Forest plays at Bethel College at 8:00.
