MSOE struck first Friday night with a power play goal by Andy Eisch at the 9:54 mark of the first period. Jacob Basten, Jr. scored for the visitors just 28 seconds later and the Raiders extended the lead to 3-0 with a score by Joe Swanson at the 7:23 mark of the second period. A power play goal by senior forward David Evans (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) at the 11:10 mark of the third finally put the home team on the scoreboard. Another power play score by sophomore forward Ryan Panet (Markham, Ontario/Wexford Raiders), his fourth of the year, at 15:25 pulled Lake Forest to within one. The game-tying goal came off the stick of junior forward Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) with just 1:44 remaining in regulation, his fifth of the season. On Saturday, freshman forward Cory Wilson (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) scored just 1:25 into the game, his seventh goal of the season. Junior forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia/Fernee Ghostwriters) made it 2-0 with his fifth of the year at the 3:21 mark. Freshman forward Tyler Steen (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) also lit the lamp for the fifth time in 2002-03 with 57 seconds remaining to close out the first period scoring. MSOE cut the margin to a single goal with second period scores by Basten (8:34, shorthanded) and Rob Kaufman (16:20). Just 38 seconds later, sophomore forward Robin Charest (Cabano, Quebec/ Coaticooh Jr. A) became the third Forester in the game to record his fifth goal of the season. The final goal of the game was the team-leading 13th of the season for Evans and came at the 13:21 mark of the third period. Evans also had two assists in the game and finished the contest with 101 career points. He is the first Forester in 10 years to reach that total. Fellow senior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario/Aurora Tigers) recorded three assists in the game and has a team-high 19 for the season, including at least one in each of his last 11 games. Bruni is just seven points short of 100 in his career. The Foresters will play their final eight regular season games within the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, beginning with a home-and-home series next weekend (January 17-18) against St. Norbert College (15-1-1, 5-1-0 NCHA), the 2nd-ranked team in the nation.
