LAKEWOOD, CA - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team traveled to Lakewood, California, this weekend for the California Amateur Hockey Association Tournament. The Foresters defeated Curry College 6-5 on Saturday (January 12th) in the semifinals and lost to Stonehill College in Sunday's (January 13th) tournament championship game, 3-1.

On Saturday, Curry scored the game's first two goals at the 10:58 and 13:34 marks in the first period before Lake Forest finally got on the scoreboard with 3:36 left in the opening period on the second goal of the season off the stick of senior forward Dan Holmes (Whitby, Ontario).

The Foresters opened the second period scoring with sophomore forward Adrian Wong's (Richmond, British Columbia) sixth goal of the year at the 1:24 mark. Curry answered with another pair of goals at 2:43 and 7:01. Sophomore forward Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta) pulled the Foresters to within one goal with his team-leading 10th of 2001-02 just 16 seconds after Curry's fourth goal of the game.

Lake Forest tied the score at the 7:35 mark of the third period with freshman forward Troy Muspratt's (Calgary, Alberta) second goal of the year. Curry reclaimed the lead just 18 seconds later with its fifth and final goal of the contest. Lake Forest sophomore defenseman Robert Bilcox (Calgary, Alberta) scored his second goal of the year with 6:48 to play and junior forward David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) gave the Foresters their first lead of the day with the eventual game-winner with 3:18 left.

It was the first time since last season's opener that six different Foresters scored a goal in the same game.
Freshman forward Ryan Panet (Markham, Ontario) assisted on three of the Forester goals and fellow freshman forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario) had two assists.

After a scoreless first period in Sunday's championship game against Stonehill College, freshman forward Scott Douglass (Calgary, Alberta) scored his first career goal with just less than two minutes remaining in the second. Assists were credited to sophomores Brad Thomas (Arlington Heights, IL) and Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, Ontario).

Stonehill owned the third and final period, however, scoring three times and turning away all 12 Forester shots on goal to earn the victory. Stonehill's record improved to 8-5-0.

Lake Forest (8-7-1, 3-3-0 NCHA) will play St. Norbert College twice next weekend. Friday (January 18th) night's game will be at home and will begin at 7:30. On Saturday (January 19th) night, the teams will take to the ice in DePere, Wisconsin, at 7:00. The Green Knights are currently 6-0-0 in NCHA play.
