Lake Forest Falls to Stevens Point, Ties Eau Claire
Team 3-4-1 in conference after weekend on the road

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's hockey team fell 3-2 at UW-Stevens Point and recorded a 3-3 tie at UW-Eau Claire in a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games over the weekend (January 23-24). Lake Forest is now 12-4-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference with seven contests remaining in the regular season, six of which are league games.

The Foresters found themselves in an early 3-0 deficit Friday night at Stevens Point until sophomore forward Troy Lother (Beach Park, IL/Green Bay Gamblers) put his team on the board at the 7:58 mark of the second period. Lother's goal, assisted by classmate Bill Fetherston (Aurora, ON/Plattsburgh St.) and junior Dave Williams (Thornhill, ON/Thornhill Rattlers), was his second score of the year

Later in the period, freshman Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) scored his eighth goal of the season. Junior Ryan Panet (Markham, ON/Wexford Raiders) and freshman Cam Doull (Marwayne, AB/Lloydminster Blazers) were each credited with an assist. The Foresters trailed by one heading into the final period and both teams went scoreless in the final 20 minutes.

Lake Forest out-shot Stevens Point 31-26 but the visitors went 0-for-4 on power play opportunities. The hosts connected on a power play opportunity in the second period.

At Eau Claire on Saturday, the Foresters gave up three goals in the first period but held the home team scoreless in the final two stanzas while scoring three goals to pull off a tie. Just over two minutes into the second period, Doull scored his team-leading 10 th goal of the year off Canal's team-best 13th assist of the season to put Lake Forest on the scoreboard. The Foresters struck again at the 4:31 mark in the third period when sophomore Tyler Steen (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) connected on a goal from junior Robin Charest (Cabano, QC /Hebron Academy). The goal was Steen's eighth and Charest's 11th assist of the year. 6:25 later, Charest scored the game-tying goal on an assist from Steen.

Neither team found the back of the net in overtime. Lake Forest out-shot the hosts 50-37, including 24-10 in the third period.

The Foresters will travel north of the state line to battle the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday (January 27). Lake Forest defeated the Raiders 5-2 at home and recorded a 3-3 tie at MSOE last year. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
