Lake Forest Falls at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 7-1 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday night (January 24). Lake Forest's overall record on the year fell to 5-14-1 and the team is 0-9-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Blugolds raised their overall record to 13-6-1 and league mark to 3-5-1.

Eau Claire scored the only goal of the opening period on the power play at 15:06. The home team broke the game open in the second, scoring a power play goal 12 seconds into the period and adding another tally just 19 seconds later. Two more goals in the period gave the home team a 5-0 lead at tghe second intermission.

After Eau Claire added a sixth goal less than a minute into the third, Lake Forest got on the scoreboard at 3:03 on sophomore Zach Kozak's (Mesa, Ariz./Northland College) eighth goal of the season. He was assisted by freshman Brendan Devine (Rockwood, Ontario/Kingston Voyageurs) and senior Matt Schoepflin (Arvada, Colo./Culver Military Academy). The Blugolds closed out the scoring at 7:34.

Senior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons) recorded a career-high 59 saves in the game, the most by a Forester in nearly six years and tied for the fourth-highest single-game total in team history.

The Foresters will host a pair of games next weekend (January 30-31). The team will face off against the College of St. Scholastica Friday night at 7:30 and UW-Superior at the same time on Saturday.
