Superior's Ryan Melbourne scored the only goal of the first period Friday night. In the second, however, the teams combined for five goals, beginning with Superior's Colin Kendall at the 5:07 mark. Senior David Evans (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) put the Foresters on the scoreboard with his team-leading 16th goal of the season at 14:21. After the visitors' Rob Whidden scored at 15:07, Lake Forest pulled back to within one just 11 seconds later on freshman Tyler Steen's (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) sixth of the year. Superior's Chris Hacket finished the barrage with a power play goal at 19:12. Sophomore Ryan Scapinello (Guelph, Ontario/Stratford Callitons) scored his first of the season with two minutes remaining to bring the Foresters within a goal again, but they were unable to even the score. On Saturday, Lake Forest sophomore Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario/Milton Merchants) started the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 7:46 mark of the first period. St. Scholastica tied the game five minutes later with a goal by Kenny Kolquist. In the second period, Forester sophomore Robin Charest (Cabano, Quebec/Coaticooh Jr. A) scored at the 2:13 mark. His fifth of the year was the only goal of the period and turned out to be the game winner. Freshman Cory Wilson (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) scored a power play goal, his ninth of the season, at the 5:50 mark of the third and then assisted on Francone's empty-netter, his second of the game and 13th of the year, with just six seconds remaining in the contest. Sophomore Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario/Milton Merchants) tallied 35 saves to raise his record to 4-3-3 on the year. Lake Forest will travel to UW-Stevens Point (11-9-1, 6-4-0 NCHA) and UW-Eau Claire (1-16-2, 1-8-1) next weekend (January 31-February 1).
