Foresters Fall 4-2 to Stevens Point and Eau Claire
Peter Pfeffer scores twice on Saturday

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College men’s hockey team dropped a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association home games over the weekend (January 25-26). The Foresters fell to 4-2 to UW-Stevens Point Friday evening and lost to UW-Eau Claire by the same score the following night. The team is now 2-17-1 overall on the season and 0-9-0 in NCHA play.

Stevens Point took the early lead on Friday on goals at 11:29 and 79 seconds later in the opening period.

Lake Forest cut the lead in half on sophomore Adam Love’s (Durham, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) team-high seventh goal of the season at the 5:47 mark of the second period. The power play score was assisted by freshman Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars) and junior Matt Oke (St. Lambert, Que./Nepean Raiders). The Pointers, however, answered that goal with one of their own just 78 seconds later.

He visitors extended their lead to 4-1 at the 6:07 mark of the third period. The game’s final tally came at 15:06 off the stick of junior Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alb./Calgary Royals), who matched Love with his seventh goal of the year. Love and sophomore Justin Taylor (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars) were each credited with an assist on the power play score.

Eau Claire scored the only goal of Saturday’s opening period just 2:31 into the contest.

The Blugolds converted a power play opportunity at 16:14 in the second to take a two-goal lead. Pfeffer cut the deficit in half with a power play goal at 18:37 and bounced the puck off the goalie’s back and into the goal with just three seconds on the clock to tie the game. Kneeland and senior Blake O’Keefe (Almonte, Ont./Gloucester Rangers) assisted on Pfeffer’s first goal and his second was unassisted and his sixth of the season.

Eau Claire scored the game-winning power play goal at 13:48 in the third period and added an insurance score with 2:19 left in the contest.

Lake Forest will play a pair of league games on the road next weekend (February 1-2). The Foresters will travel to the College of St. Scholastica Friday night and to UW-Superior on Saturday. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m.
