Tony Fritz now has 300 wins in his 26th year at Lake Forest.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's hockey team prevailed twice at home in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play over the weekend (January 30-31) and moved into fourth place in the league standings. The 3-0 shutout of UW-Eau Claire and 5-1 defeat of UW-Stevens Point were also the 299th and 300th victories in the Lake Forest College career of 26th-year head coach Tony Fritz. The team, which entered the week ranked eighth in the nation, is now 15-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the NCHA.

Junior forward Robin Charest (Cabano, QC/Hebron Academy) scored the first of his four goals on the weekend at the 3:38 mark of Friday's first period. Sophomore Tyler Steen (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) and senior Chris Rook (Barrie, ON/Milton Merchants) each recorded an assist.

After a scoreless second period, Charest struck again just 39 seconds into the third off assists from Steen and junior captain Ryan Scapinello (Guelph, ON/Stratford Cullitons). Freshman Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) tacked on an unassisted goal with 59 seconds left in the game.

Joel Cameron (Markham, ON/Milton Merchants) tallied 36 saves in his second shutout of the year. Fritz elected to go with Cameron again on Saturday and the move paid off as he saved 29 of 30 shots on goal. The junior is now 8-2-0 on the season and leads the nation with a .939 save percentage. Fellow junior Cody Brown (Calgary, AB/Calgary Canucks) also ranks among the top 20 in the country with a .910 save percentage and has a record of 7-2-2.

Canal started the scoring on Saturday with 2:31 remaining in the first period. Freshmen Cam Doull (Marwayne, AB/Lloydminster Blazers) and Matt Forsyth (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) recorded the assists on Canal's 11th score of the year.

The Foresters scored three goals in the second and Charest had two of them. The first came at the 6:57 mark with Steen and Forsyth earning the assists. After senior Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, AB/Calgary Canucks) lit the lamp for the 11th time this season at 10:46 off an assist from junior Dave Williams (Thornhill, ON/Thornhill Rattlers), Charest found the back of the net again with a minute remaining on the clock. Scapinello and senior Rob Bilcox (Calgary, AB/Bow Valley Eagles) were each credited with an assist on Charest's fourth goal of the weekend and team-high 12th of the year.

O'Connor assisted junior Rob Nerland (Calgary, AB/Kimberly Dynamites) on his first of the year at 2:10 in the third period to make the score 5-0. Stevens Point finally scored on the power play at 6:13.

The Foresters will play at UW-Stout (13-8, 4-6-0 NCHA) Friday (February 6) night at 7:00 and at fifth-ranked UW-River Falls (14-3-4, 5-2-3) at the same time on Saturday (February 7). Lake Forest is currently just two points out of second place in the league standings.
