COLLEGEVILLE, MN - For the third time this season, the Lake Forest College men's hockey team played a weekend series against two schools from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and, for the third time this season, the Foresters came away with a split. With their 5-3 win at Concordia College (Moorehead, MN) on Saturday and their 2-1 loss at St. John's University on Sunday, the Foresters are 7-6-1 on the season.

The game at Concordia was scoreless until the home team converted a power play nearly nine minutes into the second period. Lake Forest defensemanMatt VanHeest (South Lyon, MI) scored his first career goal just over a minute later, but Concordia found the back of the net once more to close out the second period with a 2-1 lead.

Sophomore forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia) tied the game less than two minutes into the third period with his fifth goal of the season and junior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) gave the Foresters their first lead nearly eight minutes later with his team-leading ninth score of the year.

The Cobbers tied the game at three before sophomore forward Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta) scored the eventual game-winner with 8:32 to play and then added an empty net goal with 11 seconds left to seal the win. The pair of scores gives O'Connor three multi-goal games this season and ties him with Bruni for the team lead in goals with nine.

Sophomore defenseman Chris Rook (Barrie, Ontario) and junior forward David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) each had two assists in the game. Evans leads the team with 11 assists this season.

On Sunday, Lake Forest out-shot St. John's 33-26 but could only get one of those shots past the goalie.

The Johnnies scored twice in the first period and both teams came up empty in the second. Senior forward Andrew Jay's (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) third goal of the year came with 7:27 to play in the game and was unassisted. Neither team would score again.

Next weekend (January 12-13th), the Foresters will be participating in the California Amateur Hockey Association Tournament. They will take on Curry College at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. The winner will play in the championship game at 7:00 on Sunday against the winner of Friday's semifinal between Salve Regina University and Stonehill College. The semifinal losers will play at 4:00 on Sunday.
