David Evans Earns All-NCHA and Academic All-NCHA Honors

David Evans was one of four players to earn first team and academic all-NCHA honors.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association released its annual All-NCHA First Team and Honorable Mention squad as well as those who earned Academic All-NCHA honors Sunday (March 2), and Lake Forest College was well represented.

Senior forward David Evans (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) was one of just five players in the league to earn first team and academic all-conference honors. He finished second in the NCHA with 11 goals in 14 league games. His six power play goals tied him for first in the conference and he ranked tied-for-sixth with 15 points. Overall, he led the team with 20 goals and 34 points. His nine power play scores are tied-for-second in the nation thru games of February 23. Evans is majoring in economics and environmental studies.

Earning honorable mention honors was sophomore goaltender Cody Brown (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks). Brown was 4-3-1 in eight NCHA games. His .931 save percentage was the second-highest mark in the conference and his 2.75 goals against average ranked sixth. His overall statistics for the season include a record of 9-5-2, a goals against average of 2.46 and his .932 save percentage ranked fifth in the nation.

Joining Evans on the academic all-conference list were a trio of juniors, forwards Troy Muspratt (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) and Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) and defenseman Brad Saint (Brantford, Ontario/Brantford Golden Eagles). Muspratt is majoring in business and communications, O'Connor in economics, and Saint in Biology and Economics. To be named academic all-conference, a player must have at least a 3.00 grade point average, have earned at least 50 semester or 75 quarter hours, and be recommended by his head coach.

Lake Forest finished the season with a 13-9-5 overall record, including a fifth-place 6-7-1 mark in NCHA play. The Foresters were eliminated by fourth-place UW-Stevens Point in the quarterfinals of the NCHA Tournament on February 15.
