HOWARD AND FRANTZ NAMED CO-FORESTER ATHLETES
OF THE WEEK

Howard, a 5-11, 170-pound goaltender on the men's hockey team, and
Sarah
Frantz, a 5-6 setter on the volleyball squad, have been selected as
the co-recipients of the Forester
Athlete of the Week award. Howard, who hales from Burlington, Ontario,
played the perfect game on Friday (Nov. 5) as he shutout St. Norbert College,
1-0. He stopped all 32 shots he faced versus St. Norbert, the three-time
defending NCHA regular season champions and two-time defending NCHA Tournament
champs. Howard pitched the first shutout by a Lake Forest goalie since
Nov. 1, 1997 and the first in NCHA play since Dec. 9, 1995. In the two
games against SNC he made 71 saves and garnered a .922 save percentage.
Although the Foresters and Howard were handed their first loss of the season,
6-1, on Saturday (Nov. 6) at St. Norbert, Lake Forest Head Coach Tony Fritz
thought Howard, ".played equally well on Saturday." The Lake Forest hockey
team is currently 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the NCHA for the season.
Frantz, from Lake Geneva,
WI (Badger High School), led the Forester volleyball team to their second
Midwest Conference Championship in the past three years and first-ever
trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team gained an automatic berth into the
NCAA Tournament by winning the MWC Tourney. During the three matches at
last weekend's Conference Tournament Frantz averaged 13.4 assists per game
(121 total), compiled a 98 percent serving percentage, and served up 13
aces. Lake Forest did not lose a game in three matches. Lake Forest will
bring their 18-10 overall record into the NCAA Tournament.
