NORTHFIELD, MN - The Lake Forest Men's hockey team split with MIAC foes Gustavus Adolphus College and St. Olaf College this weekend (November 16-17th). The Foresters defeated the Gusties 5-3 on Friday night but lost to the Olies 6-2 on Saturday evening.

Lake Forest led Gustavus 2-1 after the first period on goals by junior forward David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) and freshman forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario). The Gusties' Aaron Allar scored twice in just under two minutes to give Gustavus the lead early in the second, but Forester sophomore forward Bryan O'Connor (Calgary, Alberta) scored the game winner at 7:10 of the third on the power play. O'Connor added another goal at 17:52, but not before junior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) fired in his second goal of the season just one minute and 42 seconds earlier.

With a stellar 48-save performance by goalie Jake Bullard, St. Olaf scored all the goals they would need in the first period against the Foresters in the second game of the weekend. Midway through the period, the Olies scored two goals just 14 seconds apart. St. Olaf scored for the third time with just 15 seconds remaining before the first intermission.

Bruni and the Foresters chipped away at the margin with his goal on the power play at 8:06 of the second.  After Lake Forest allowed its second short-handed score of the season, Forester sophomore forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, B.C.) launched a shot into the Olie goal just before the buzzer sounded to end the second period. The official time of the goal was 19:59.

The third period featured two more goals by St. Olaf as Lake Forest lost their third game of the season.

The Foresters are now 3-3-0 on the season and remain 2-2-0 in the NCHA. For the weekend, the Lake Forest power play operated at just over 36 percent, scoring on 4 of 11 opportunities. On Saturday (November 17) night, the Foresters held St. Olaf to only one power play opportunity. The team will try to continue playing disciplined hockey this weekend (November 23-24th) as they host Marion College Friday and Saturday night in non-conference play.
