Tyler Canal Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior forward helped lead team to weekend sweep

Two of Tyler Canal's three goals this year have been shorthanded.
LAKE FOREST, IL – Lake Forest College men’s hockey player Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (November 17) for his contributions to a pair of Lake Forest victories the previous weekend (November 11-12).

Canal recorded two of his three points on the weekend in Friday night’s 3-2 triumph over the University of St. Thomas, the nation’s fourth-ranked team at the time. Canal’s first point of the game came on an assist late in the first period on a goal that gave the Foresters a 2-1 lead. After St. Thomas tied the game on the only goal of the second stanza, Canal scored the game-winner at the 5:01 mark of the third. It was the junior forward’s second shorthanded goal of the season and sixth of his career.

On Saturday, Canal recorded another assist in the team’s 4-2 victory over St. Mary’s University. He is tied for the team lead with six points this season on three goals and three assists.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by members of the Athletic Department on Thursdays. It marks the second time in Canal’s career that he has earned the award.
