Lake Forest Jumps Out to 4-1 Lead and Hold Off St. Olaf for 5-3 Win
Bill Boyes and Frank Demasi score twice

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College defeated visiting St. Olaf College, 5-3, on Saturday night (November 18th) at Alumni Memorial Ice Rink.

Lake Forest (4-2-1) has now won or tied six of their last eight games with Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponents, dating back to the 1999-2000 season.

St. Olaf (2-4-0) lost for the second straight night to a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association team. The Oles lost, 10-4, at St. Norbert on Friday night (November 17th).

The Foresters jumped out 2-0 and 4-1 leads on Saturday night, and held off a late St. Olaf rally to secure the win.

Bill Boyes (Bright's Grove, Ontario) scored the game's first two goals (his fourth and fifth goals of the season), to give the Foresters a 2-0 lead 16 minutes into the contest.

A Craig Newman power play goal cut the LF lead in half with just under a minute-and-a-half to play in the first period. But Frank Demasi (Toronto, Ontario) would score with 30 seconds remaining in the first frame to push the Forester back to a pair of goals.

Demasi would score again 4:48 into the second period to give Lake Forest their largest lead of the game at 4-1.

St. Olaf pulled within a goal with two scores in the final seven minutes of the second period before David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) registered his third point and first goal of the day at the 4:36 mark of the third period to give the Foresters a 5-3 cushion.

Mason Black (Smith Falls, Ontario) had 25 saves for Lake Forest to record his team-high third win (against one loss) of the season. He has a .917 save percentage on the year.

All three of St. Olaf's goals came on the power play. The Oles were three-of-five on their power play, while Lake Forest was two-of-three.

Next weekend Lake Forest will play Marian College in an away and home series. The Foresters will play at Marian on Friday (November 24th) and host Marian the following evening.
