Loss at Lawrence is Foresters’ Fifth by One Goal this Season
Steen scores twice and adds an assist for the visitors

APPLETON, WI – The Lake Forest College men’s hockey team fell 6-5 at Lawrence University Tuesday (November 22) night. The Foresters are now 3-6-0 this season while the Vikings raised their record to 3-3-1.

The home team scored at 3:09 and again at 9:42 in the opening period and led 2-0 at the first intermission.

Lake Forest pulled to within one at the 6:09 mark of the second on a power play goal by freshman Mike Kneeland (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals). Sophomore Kevin Russette (Amerstburg, ON/Leamington Flyers) assisted on Kneeland’s fourth score of the year. Lawrence, however, regained its two-goal lead just 32 seconds later and extended the margin to three at 8:27. The Vikings were still ahead 4-1 at the end of the second period.

Senior Tyler Steen (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) converted a power play opportunity just 28 seconds in to the third period. The goal was assisted by senior Bryan Lafevor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Chicago Freeze) and junior Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, ON/Stratford Cullitons). Steen scored again at 2:32 to once again pull the Foresters to within one. Junior Brian Lee (Calgary, AB/Calgary Royals) assisted on Steen’s fourth goal of the season. The visitors finally tied the game on freshman Chris Wilson’s (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Cornwall Colts) power play goal at 6:22. The second score of his career was assisted by Kneeland and senior Jordan Kniaziew (Leamington, ON/Leamington Flyers). Lee gave the Foresters their first lead of the game at 9:04. Russette and Steen earned the assists on Lee’s third goal of the year. The Vikings responded to Lake Forest’s four unanswered goals by scoring at 12:02 and again at 13:45. The Foresters played with an empty net for the final 61 seconds of the game but were unable to tie the score.

Lake Forest will take to the road for a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games this weekend (November 25-26). The Foresters will play at UW-Eau Claire at 7:00 Friday night and will travel to UW-Stevens Point for a 7:30 game Saturday night.
