LAKE FOREST, IL - While the Forester men's hockey team has never lost to Marian College in nine all-time meetings, they have now tied them twice in a row. The Foresters and Sabres played to a 3-3 tie last November and the final score on Friday (November 23rd) was 4-4.

Lake Forest opened the scoring early with a goal by freshman forwardRyan Panet (Markham, Ontario) less than a minute-and-a-half into the contest. The unassisted score was Panet's second goal of the season.

Just 21 seconds later, Forester freshman forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario) lit the lamp with his second score of the 2001-02 campaign. Assisting on the score was sophomore defenseman Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, Ontario), who recorded his fifth of the season and fourth in the last three games.

At the 9:01 mark of the first period, Lake Forest took a 3-0 lead with junior forward Matt Bruni's (Unionville, Ontario) fourth goal of the year. Chris Rook (Barrie, Ontario) and David Evans (Calgary, Alberta) were each credited with an assist, their first and fourth, respectively, of the season.

Marian got its first goal of the game with slightly less than three minutes to play in the opening period. The Sabres' second score came just 21 seconds after the first intermission and the visitors tied the score just 41 seconds after the second break.

Francone's second goal of the game and third of the year gave the Foresters a 4-3 lead with 13:18 to play in the third period. Rook and Panet assisted on the score.

Marian, however, tied the score again with 10:32 to play in regulation.

Lake Forest freshman goalie Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario) saved 34 shots in the game, including five in the five-minute overtime period, to record the first tie of his young career.

The same two teams will square off again Saturday (November 24th) night at 7:30 pm. Friday's tie leaves the Foresters with a 3-3-1 record. Marian's mark on the year is 3-4-1.
