Foresters Fall to Eau Claire, Tie Stevens Point at Home
Lake Forest goalies stop 67 of 71 shots on goal over the weekend

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Lake Forest College men’s hockey team played a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association homes games over the weekend (November 24-25). The Foresters fell 2-1 to UW-Eau Claire Friday night and skated to a 2-2 tie with UW-Stevens Point on Saturday. Lake Forest is 2-7-1 overall on the season and 0-3-1 in NCHA play. Eau Claire raised its overall record to 5-3-0 and its league mark to 1-2-0. Stevens Point is now 3-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference.

After a scoreless opening period on Friday, sophomore Matt Oke (St. Lambert, Que./Nepean Raiders) put the Foresters ahead just 40 seconds into the second stanza. His second goal of the year was assisted by senior Tyler Canal (Thunder Bay, Ont./Stratford Cullitons).

The score remained 1-0 until the 15:13 mark of the third period when Eau Claire converted a power play opportunity to tie the game. The visitors scored the winning goal with just 14 seconds left in the contest.

Forester sophomore goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ont./Chatham Maroons) recorded 33 saves in the contest.

Fellow sophomore goalie Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) also surrendered just two goal on Saturday and tallied 34 saves.

Lake Forest took the early lead over Stevens Point on a power play goal by junior Adam Tobias (Rockford, Ill./Robert Morris University) at the 6:50 mark of the opening period. Sophomores Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts) and Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School) were each credited with an assist. The Pointers tied the score on a power play goal of their own with 2:20 remaining in the period.

The visitors pulled ahead at the 9:22 mark of the second period and the score remained 2-1 until late in the third. The Foresters called a time out with 1:08 remaining in regulation and pulled Campbell. Five seconds later, Tobias tied the score with his second goal of the game and fourth of the season. He was assisted by Morrison and senior Brian Lee (Calgary, Alb./Calgary Royals).

Lake Forest will continue NCHA play on the road next weekend (December 1-2). The Foresters will play at UW-River Falls Friday night at 7:00 and at UW-Stout the following evening at 6:00.
