Lake Forest Defeats Visiting Lawrence University 5-1

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester men's hockey team hosted and defeated Lawrence University 5-1 Tuesday night (November 25). Lake Forest raised its overall trecord on the season to 3-8-0 while the Vikings fell to 3-5-0.

Forester senior Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) started the scoring at the 6:19 mark of the opening period. Classmate Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School) and freshman Joel Gard (Orangeville, Ontario/Streetsville Derbys) earned assists on Kneeland's second goal of the year.

Sophomore David Ridos (Hamilton, Ontario/Stoney Creek Warriors) doubled the home team's lead with what turned out to be the official game winning goal at 4:21 in the second period. His fourth score of the season was assisted by junior Nick Ghidina (Pekin, Ill./Wichita Falls Wildcats). After Lawrence pulled back to within one at 10:57, the Foresters regained their two-goal lead at 14:15 on Morrison's third score of 2008-09. Kneeland and senior Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts) were each credited with an assist.

Freshman Brendan Devine (Rockwood, Ontario/Kingston Voyageurs) extended the home team's lead to three at the 4:08 mark of the third period on his second goal of the year. Ridos and junior Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars) assisted. The final tally came off the stick of junior Adam Love (Durham, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) at 17:11. Sophomore Zach Kozak (Mesa, Ariz./Northland College) and junior Justin Taylor (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars) assisted on Love's fourth goal of the season.

Senior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) stopped 52 of 53 shots on goal in the contest, including all 22 he faced in the final period. He raised his save percentage on the season to 937.

After taking the rest of Thanksgiving week off, Lake Forest will resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at UW-River Falls on Friday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. The Foresters will then play at UW-Stout the following afternoon at 3:00.
