November 30th, 2001 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Fall to 4-4-1 After Loss to UW-River Falls
The first period was scoreless thanks to a 20-save performance by Forester freshman goaltender Joel Cameron (Markham, Ontario). His counterpart, Jacque Vezina, made seven saves to blank the Foresters. River Falls opened the scoring early in the second period on a power play goal, but Lake Forest answered three minutes later with a power play score of their own. Sophomore forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, B.C.) slapped in a second rebound after freshman forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario) shot the puck from the point and junior forward Matt Bruni (Unionville, Ontario) was stopped at the top of the crease. The Falcons took control after that, though, as they went on to score six unanswered goals and earn the conference victory. Lake Forest's record fell to 4-4-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The Foresters registered a season low 19 shots against the Falcons, including a two-shot third period. Lake Forest will try to bounce back tomorrow (December 1) night when they host UW-Stout at 7:30 in another NCHA contest. By Brian Monahan.
