VICKAR NAMED US COLLEGE HOCKEY DIII PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lake Forest College hockey goalkeeper Aaron Vickar has been selected as the United States College Hockey Division III Defensive Player of the Week.  Vickar, a 6'2 195 pound senior from Chesterfield, MO, led Lake Forest to a series split over Bemidji State University last weekend.  Bemidji is the pre-season pick by the NCHA coaches to win the conference and will move to the NCAA Division I level next season.
On Friday in a 2-1 loss, Vickar nabbed 47 saves.  On Saturday's 2-1 win, Vickar snared another 33 saves.  Weekend totals for Vickar included a .964 save percentage, 80 saves and a 1.5 goals against average.  His save percentage is currently second in the NCHA.  Head Coach Tony Fritz added, "Aaron played as flawless a two games as I've ever seen - he was virtually mistake-free.  His anticipation was tremendous all weekend."
Vickar is recognized on the U.S. College Hockey web site at www.uscollegehockey.com.  Vickar's week also included being named the NCHA's Player of the Week and was unanimously selected as the LFC Forester Athlete of the Week.
