JUSTIN HOWARD NAMED NCHA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lake Forest College goaltender Justin
Howard, a 5-11, 170 pound junior from Burlington, Ontario, was been
named the Northern Collegiate
Hockey Association Player of the Week. Howard played the perfect game
on Friday (Nov. 5) as he shutout St. Norbert College, 1-0. He stopped all
32 shots he faced versus St. Norbert, the three-time defending NCHA regular
season champions and two-time defending NCHA Tournament champs. Howard
pitched the first shutout by a Lake Forest goalie since Nov. 1, 1997 and
the first in NCHA play since Dec. 9, 1995. In the two games against SNC
he made 71 saves and garnered a .922 save percentage. Although the Foresters
and Howard were handed their first loss of the season, 6-1, on Saturday
(Nov. 6) at St. Norbert, Lake
Forest Head Coach Tony Fritz thought Howard, ".played equally well
on Saturday."
Lake Forest is currently 3-1-0 overall and
1-1-0 in the NCHA for the season. The Foresters will travel to UW-Eau Claire
on Friday night (Nov. 12) and to UW-Stevens Points on Saturday afternoon
(Nov. 13).
The NCHA Sports Information Director selects
the NCHA Players of the Week.
