LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team split a series against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams at home over the weekend (November 7-8), falling 3-1 to St. John's University Friday evening before edging out Concordia College Moorhead 4-3 in overtime the next night. The Foresters are now 2-4-0 on the season. It was St. John's first win in the team's third game of the year and Concordia is still without a victory in four contests.

The Johnnies jumped out to an early lead Friday with a goal just 52 seconds into the contest. It turned out to be the only score of the opening period.

Sophomore Zach Kozak's (Mesa, Ariz./Northland College) scored his first goal as a Forester just 27 seconds into the second stanza to tie the score. He was assisted by seniors Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) and Matt Oke (St. Lambert, Quebec/Nepean Raiders). St. John's regained the lead on a power play goal at 15:19.

The only score of the third period was scored by the visitors after Forester senior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) had vacated the net. He recorded 42 saves in the game, including all 18 of the shots on goal he faced in the final period.

The home team fell behind early again on Saturday. Concordia started the scoring with a power play goal eight minutes into the game and doubled the lead with 4:22 remaining in the first period.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard at 6:56 in the second period on junior Justin Taylor's (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars) first goal of the season. Junior Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars) recorded the assist. Pfeffer then tied the score on his first of the year at 10:24 off assists by Kozak and Oke. Concordia regained the lead on a power play goal at 14:54 and the period ended with the Cobbers ahead 3-2.

Kozak scored the only goal of the third period at 11:44 with Kneeland and sophomore Matt Helderman (Huntington, Conn./The Gunnery) each picking up an assist.

There were just 32 seconds remaining in the 5-minute overtime period when Kozac lit the lamp for the second time in the game and third time on the weekend. It was Lake Forest's second overtime goal this season and was assisted by senior Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School) and junior Adam Love (Durham, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings).

Senior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons) set a new career-high with 55 saves in the contest and raised his record on the year to 2-1-0 and save percentage to .924.

The Foresters will begin Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at home next weekend (November 14-15) when they host UW-Eau Claire Friday evening at 7:30 and UW-Stevens Point at the same time the following night.
