LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College men's hockey team opened the 2008-09 season by splitting a series with Milwaukee School of Engineering over the weekend (October 24-25). The Foresters fell 2-1 in Milwaukee Friday night before prevailing 3-2 in overtime at home on Saturday.

M.S.O.E. scored the first two goals Friday night, one with 2:39 to play in the opening period and the other with just 44 seconds remaining in the second.

Lake Forest sophomore David Ridos (Hamilton, Ontario/Stoney Creek Warriors) pulled the visitors to within a goal at 4:56 in the third period. The visitors pulled senior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings), who stopped 39 of 41 shots on goal in the contest, with 56 seconds left but were unable to score.

The Foresters jumped out to the early lead the following night on a power play goal by junior Adam Love (Durham, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) two minutes and 23 seconds into the game. He was assisted by junior Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./ Walpole Stars) and sophomore Matt Helderman (Huntington, Conn./The Gunnery). Senior Mike Kneeland's (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Royals) unassisted goal at 4:04 then doubled the home team's lead.

Senior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ontario/Chatham Maroons), who finished with 34 saves, stopped all six shots he faced in the first period and all 15 on goal in the second. The Raiders scored a power play goal at 7:22 in the third and tied the score on a five-on-three opportunity with 6:58 to play in regulation.

The game-winning goal was credited to senior Peter Morrison (Roseville, Minn./ Roseville High School) with just 53 seconds left in the game. He was assisted by Kneeland and fellow senior Chris Wilson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cornwall Colts).

Saturday night's game was the 1,000th for Tony Fritz as a Lake Forest College head coach. He has been behind the Forester hockey bench for 771 games (1978-present) and coached the College's men's soccer team for 229 games from 1978-93. His teams have combined for a 483-460-57 overal record.

The Foresters will travel to Minnesota next weekend (October 31-November 1). Lake Forest will face off at St. Olaf College Friday night at 7:00 and at Gustavus Adolphus College at the same time on Saturday.
