Inducted 1975 Growing up in Rondout, Illinois, Jobbie attended Libertyville High School where he was an outstanding performer in football, basketball and track. His senior year he was selected team captain of the football team. He entered Lake Forest in 1933 and earned nine varsity letters in footbal, basketball and baseball. Captain of the baseball team his junior year, Jobbie, a member of Digamma Alpha Upsilon, was also selected most valuable player in football and was named to the Little Nineteen All-Conference football team as a senior. After an unsuccessfull tryout with the Chicago Bears in 1938, he returned to the College as an assistant coach to Ralph Jones. He played semi-pro football with the Waukegan Merchants from 1939 until 1940 and played professional softball from 1940 until 1942. He then went on to establish and coach a semi-pro basketball team from Lake County for six years. Eventually Jobbie went to work at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, staying on for 33 years. As an avocation he officiated high school football, basketball and baseball over four decades and was one of the founders of the Northern Illinois Officials Association. For his accomplishments and service as a football official, he was honored by the association with the George D. Younge Memorial Trophy.
