John M. Handrahan '79

John Handrahan grew up in Framingham , Massachusetts . He attended Framingham North High School and Kimball Union Academy . He participated in numerous sports as a youth but concentrated on hockey, playing both for his high school and in off-season leagues.

Handrahan enrolled at Lake Forest in the fall of 1975 and played hockey for four seasons. He ranked third in goals and second in both assists and points his freshman year. He led the team in scoring as a sophomore and again as a junior, when the team posted a 23-5 record and finished second at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. He was fourth on the squad in both goals and points as a senior. At the time of his induction, he was the program's all-time leader with 103 assists and ranked second with 192 career points and third with 90 goals. His 67 points in 1977–78 still stand as the highest single-season total in school history and his 32 goals that season are tied for the top mark. Lake Forest 's overall record during Handrahan's career was 68-38.

In addition to his Lake Forest College diploma, Handrahan earned an accounting degree from Bentley College and a master of science degree from the College for Financial Planning. He went on to be a successful financial advisor. He has also been involved in fundraising for cancer research and treatment.

He lists raising his two daughters, Erica and Olivia, among his greatest lifetime accomplishments.
