Inducted 1999 Jim, a native of Berwyn, Illinois, graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois, but did not participate in high school athletics. Following graduation from high school, Jim attended the University of Illinois-Chicago (Navy Pier) for two years, where he played on the basketball and football team both years. Jim played on the inaugural football team at Navy Pier and was named team captain and Most Valuable Player his sophomore season. In 1952, he served as a cryptographer in the U. S. Army Signal Corp and was stationed at the White House during the Eisenhower Administration and the Korean Conflict. He enrolled at Lake Forest in 1954 and went on to earn two varsity letters in football. His senior year he was named team captain and co-Most Valuable Player. During his Lake Forest career, he was also named First Team All-Conference (College Conference of Illinois) and gained recognition on the Little All0America squad (Honorable Mention). Jim was a member of the Phi Pi Epsilon fraternity and an Honor Roll student. After graduating from Lake Forest in 1956 with Bachelor's of Arts degree in Business Administration, Jim worked in computer operations for various businesses, including People's Gas, Playboy, Motorola, Bestlin Products and Compressed Air Company.
