Inducted 1977 Growing up in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Leon attended Penn Academy. While at Lake Forest College, he earned four letters each in basketball, football and baseball. He was twice selected captain of the basketball team and led the team in scoring. During his senior year he was selected captain of the football team, for which he played end and half back. As captain of the 1916 baseball team, Leon, a member of Phi Pi Epsilon, led the team to the Little Five Conference Championship as the leading hitter. Graduating with a degree in math, Leon started a career as a salesman with several different companies. He worked for Sam A. Wing Venetian Blind Co. and eventually took a position with the Texas Turnpike Authority. Leon was the recipient of the Golden Alumni Certificate for fifty years of service for Lake Forest College. Along with serving as an Elder for his church, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
