McDonald Named to Midwest Classic All-Tournament Team
Foresters fall to Eureka and Webster

EUREKA, IL - The Forester men's basketball team lost a pair of games this weekend (November 30-December 1) at the Midwest Challenge. On Saturday, Lake Forest took host Eureka College to overtime before falling 87-82. Webster University defeated the Foresters on Sunday, 84-66. The losses drop Lake Forest's record to 0-3 so far this season.

Sophomore forward Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove) was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two games. McDonald scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds on Saturday and had 17 points and five rebounds on Sunday. He shot 64.0% (16/25) from the floor on the weekend.

Senior guard Lee Taylor (Sheldon, IA/Sheldon) and freshman forward Franklyn Beckford (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) also scored in double figures in both games. Taylor had 14 and Beckford 11 against Eureka. On Sunday, Beckford scored 11 again while Taylor added 10.

A pair of freshman guards, Greg Klos (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North) and Maurice Smith (Loves Park, IL/Harlem), made their presence felt from beyond the three-point arc. On Friday, Klos made three of four attempts from long-range and scored 19 points. On Saturday, Smith shot four-for-five from three-point territory and scored 14. Smith has made seven of his nine three-point attempts on the year.

The Foresters trailed by as many as 16 points early in the game against Eureka and by 14 at halftime. Lake Forest used a 10-3 run over the final 1:25 to send the game into overtime.

On Sunday, the Foresters led 13-10 before giving up 15 consecutive points to Webster. Lake Forest trailed by a dozen again late in the half before scoring seven straight to close out the half. The Foresters trailed by just three points with 5:33 remaining before Webster finished the game with a 19-4 run.

Lake Forest will be back at home on Wednesday (December 4) at 7:30 p.m. against Benedictine University. The team will open Midwest Conference play on Saturday (December 7) at home against Grinnell College.
