Lake Forest Closes Out Fall Semester with Loss at North Central
Team will travel to Texas at the end of the month

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester men's basketball team dropped a 76-40 decision at North Central College on Tuesday (December 9). Lake Forest fell to 1-5 this season while the Cardinals raised their record to 4-2.

Forester senior guard Jeremy Beyersdorf (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) led the visitors with 10 points. Freshman post players Travis Clark (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) and Dayton Young (Muskego, Wis./Catholic Memorial) shared team-high honors with five rebounds apiece and junior forward Patrick Hanley (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) dished out three assists.

Lake Forest shot a season-low 29.8 percent from the field, made just four three-pointers in 21 attempts, and knocked down half of 16 free throws. North Central shot 50 percent from the field, 5-for-19 from three-point range, and 11-for-17 from the line. The Foresters were out-rebounded 42-31 and committed 22 turnovers while forcing just 13.

North Central scored the game's first nine points and led 17-2 less than seven minutes into the contest. Lake Forest cut the lead to six points (19-13) with 7:41 to play in the opening period but the Cardinals outscored their guests 29-5 to close out the half and led 46-18 at intermission.

The home team scored the first eight points after halftime and led be as many as 44 in the second half.

The Foresters will compete in the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's Cru Holiday Classic at the end of the month (December 29-30). Lake Forest will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor that Monday at 7:30 p.m. before facing either LeTourneau University or UW-Whitewater the following afternoon in the third place (2:00) or championship game (4:00).
