Hoyt Rees Named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
Freshman helped Foresters win pair of crucial league contests

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s basketball player Hoyt Rees (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week Monday (February 5) for his performance in a pair of Forester victories at home over the weekend (February 2-3) as the team moved into fourth place in the league standings.

Rees, a freshman forward, scored 14 points and shot 6-for-9 from the field in Friday night’s 71-52 victory over Beloit College. He was one of four Foresters to score in double figures and he added three rebounds and an assist in the contest.

On Saturday Lake Forest edged out Lawrence University 72-69 and Rees recorded career-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 8-for-13 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the foul line in his first career double-double and added a pair of steals. The victory gave the Foresters an overall record of 11-8 and an MWC mark of 7-5 and moved them into fourth place in the league standings.

Rees currently ranks third on the team with 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He also leads the squad with nearly two steals per contest.
