Lake Forest Goes Cold in Loss at Illinois College
McDonald only Forester in double figures

Eric McDonald has led the team in scoring nine times
in 21 games this season.
JACKSONVILLE, IL - While the Lake Forest College men's basketball team is the only one in the Midwest Conference to advance to the four-team conference tournament each of the past two seasons, the Foresters' chances of making it three trips in a row took a serious blow Wednesday (February 6th) in their 77-46 loss at Illinois College. Lake Forest is now 9-12 overall this season and 6-8 in the MWC.

The lone Forester in double-figures was freshman forward Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove), who scored 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and a 5-of-6 night at the free throw line. McDonald has at least tied for the team-lead in scoring nine times this season and has the highest scoring average on the squad at 14.9 points per game.

After entering the game tied for 10th in the nation with an average of 9.3 made three-pointers per game, Lake Forest matched a season-low on Wednesday with just five. Overall, the Foresters shot just 27.8% from the floor while the Blueboys connected on 47.7% of their field goal attempts. After out-rebounding Illinois College 36-35 in the team's first meeting this season, Lake Forest pulled down just 25 boards Wednesday while IC grabbed 55.

The Foresters final two games of the regular season will be at home. This Saturday (February 9th) they will host Knox College (4-16, 3-10 MWC) at 4:00 PM and next Saturday (February 16th) they will take on Grinnell College (10-10, 7-6 MWC) at 1:00 PM. To qualify for the conference tournament, Lake Forest will need to win both games and get some help in other MWC action.
