Hoyt Rees Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman averaged 16 points and 6.3 rebounds in three victories

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s basketball player Hoyt Rees (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (February 8) for his performance in Lake Forest’s three Midwest Conference victories over the previous seven days.

Rees, a freshman forward, was also named MWC Performer of the Week for his performance over the weekend (February 2-3). He helped the Foresters defeat Beloit College 71-52 at home Friday night by shooting 6-for-9 from the field and scoring 14 points. In the team’s 72-69 triumph over visiting Lawrence University on Saturday, he recorded career-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 8-for-13 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the foul line in that game and added a pair of steals in the game.

Rees continued his high level of play on Tuesday with a 12-point, six-rebound performance as Lake Forest prevailed 65-61 at home over Illinois College. He shot 5-for-8 from the field in the game and added two assists and three steals.

For the week Rees averaged 16 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 63.3 percent from the field. He committed just one turnover and tied for the team lead with five steals in the three games combined.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
