Win Streak Ends at 20 at Ripon
Sophomore guard Fred Bell (Mequon, WI/Homestead) scored 15 points and was the team's leading scorer for the third time this season and the second in their three games this week. Bell shot 5-of-7 from the field, made 2 of his 4 three-point attempts and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Senior center J.R. Jurecko (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) capped off a solid week with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Jurecko averaged 14.0 points and made over half his shots from the field in all three games this week. He has now scored in double-figures in five straight games. The Foresters held a small advantage for the game's initial 16 minutes until Ripon took its first lead at 24-22 with 3:47 to go in the half. After Lake Forest tied the game at 24, Ripon scored the last four points of the half and the first two of the second half to take a six-point lead. The Foresters led only once in the second half (42-41) and trailed by as many as 10. They cut the lead to six with 1:05 to go but could get no closer as Ripon made their last six free throws to close out the game. Lake Forest out-shot the Redhawks 43.2% to 40.7%, but were uncharacteristically out-rebounded 37-23. It marked just the second time this season that a Forester opponent has pulled down more boards, with the first being a one-rebound deficit in their victory at Illinois College four days ago. The Foresters will look to rebound from this loss on Tuesday when they travel to Monmouth College to face the Fighting Scots at 8:00 PM. Monmouth currently has an overall record of 3-6 which includes one victory in four league games.
