Franklyn Beckford Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior shot a combined 27-of-32 from the field in two victories  

  

Franklyn Beckford scored a career-high 45 points Saturday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College men’s basketball player Franklyn Beckford (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (January 13) for his contributions to a pair of Lake Forest victories over the last seven days.

Beckford returned to his hometown last Thursday (January 6) and helped lead Lake Forest to a 78-57 win at Illinois College. He led the team with 18 points in just 18 minutes and shot 8-for-10 from the floor.

In the Foresters’ 106-99 triumph at home over Grinnell College on Saturday (January 8), Beckford scored a career-high 45 points on 19-of-22 shooting from the field. He recorded five dunks in the contest and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Beckford averaged 31.5 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in the two games combined while shooting 84.4% from the field. He now ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game and leads the squad with 5.9 rebounds per contest. He is shooting 60.9% from the floor and 72.7% from the free throw line.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
